Pros & Cons
Pros
Bought a 3 pack needing 2. In fact, my setup is a 4-way setup (3 switches) this switch has clear labeling to identify the traveler screws.
It is easy if you had done some basic electrical wiring before. Everything is well labeled and there's instructional videos that i didn't bother to watch. I agree, though i may have misread something when setting up mine.
Cons
I attempted to install the kit on my stairwell 3 way, both ends like the kit recommends. The software is messed up. Install at the peril of your privacy.
Now i'm disconnected from 1st switch with no way to reconnect. Quality control is not there either.
With the on command the fixture turns on as expected but shows off in app after 1-2 seconds. This essentially disables the app from turning the fixture off. For the scheduled timer to work, it has to be connected to the internet.
The kasa app doesn't always show the correct status on the * switch. Customers can't tell whether it is on or off before clicking the on/off button.

Removed from box, followed easy to understand instructions and had home automation within minutes.
Competitiveness
I took time to learn the differences between wall timer approaches and it was great that kasa's products were the way to go.
I've used other brands and technologies (z-wave, zigbee, etc.
I started buying tapo products to use with my tapo cameras and needed a 3 way switch, which is not offered by tapo.
The only difference is an occasional wifi icon but mostly it's just the circle, same as the tapo switches.

I really didnt expect it to work since my application was to only change one 3 way switch and leave the other original toggle

First they come as a 2 pack but you dont have to use both on the same circuit

You only need one smart switch in the circuit for the threeway setup using one dumb 3way and one smart switch
