Pros & Cons
Pros
For a router without built-in wifi, this is an excellent option. The iot subnet runs on a veteran e4200 router. My wired gigabit home network needed to be reconfigured so i could move the wireless router from the front of my home to the middle for bet... Read More
The main difference is in the routing capacity of the two versions.
Tp-link is a great choice for those suffering outages in a first-world situation. Being able to import the relations from a csv file saves a lot of time and typo errors. Support answers the phone very fast, minutes, (at 8 am in the morning) and it say... Read More
Both the original and updated router have the same er605. The v2 is the newer one and has a usb port on the front panel.
User-friendly interface and intuitive setup process make configuring the router a seamless experience. The way it all integrates is pretty powerful and easy to navigate after you ingest it all. The omada controller box is also worth it.
Cons
There is some very very trimmed down ui which is confusing at best. It has super limited configuration options. They seem to be more interested in updating hardware versions than fixing the issues with current versions. Was told to upgrade to firmware... Read More
The web interface seems nice and seems nicely done, but nothing behind that interface seems to act right. It seems to need to be rebooted often and works inconsistently. This router should never be used by someone without a sufficient level of network... Read More

Imo it's not entirely clear from the marketing material, this device must be configured and managed using tp link's controller interface.
With a cramped and unfinished dirt crawl space in the basement it is a disagreeable chore to run the cables.
Price
Very please and for only $60 it is a winner.
This is an amazing device for the price.
This router would be a bargain at twice the price.
For less than $60, it's very hard to quibble the excellent price/performance of this wired only gigabit router.
Shipping
Purchased er605 from amazon, was delivered same day ;) thanksthe user interface (web base) is easy to use.
I started using tp- link when my other vender was having supply chain problems and couldn't deliver in a reasonable timeframe a... Read More

Upon further research, i'm confident that no other router offers similar performance.
I tried another brand that i couldn't even get all the ports working on.
Linksys claimed the lrt224 had gigabit ports but didnt perform as such.
