Using these antennas at both ends solved the issue. Strong signal. The wire on the antenna is quality wire.
Cons
It is less than 2 months old and they will do nothing to resolve my problem. Didn't improve the range of the ap one bit. Tried it on both sending and receiving units and range was not improved at all.

The signal went from close to no signal to a good/very good signal.
Would recomend getting an extension cable though.

If you don’t understand just pay attention to the little pins or the lack thereof and recognize there is no one standard for all devices

Because if you mount it sideways your scanning swath will be narrower making it harder to pickup a signal

Be sure that the cable exiting the body of the antenna is pointing either up to the sky or down to the ground
