A winner. Great value for money. Really impressed. Very pleased with the speeds achieved.

Wa1201 access point has very good range and coverage of both 2g and 5g wifi. Stronger signal than the main router.

Easy to setup via a html splash page. Very easy to get into it via browser to rename it and change the password.

Cons

The tp-link wap freezes up constantly and needs to be rebooted daily. It can only reach 70mbps on a mac and 20mbps when connected in multi-ssid mode. When in access point mode it will turn on its own dhcp server and kill your whole network.

Utterly useless. Just not worth the frustration or hassle. Really disappointing. Also a pain in the * when trying to watch family films.

Competitiveness

Used as wap in downstairs living room with cat6 cable from router in the upstairs study.

I ran a cat5 cable from the router to the garage and simply plugged in.

Mine's installed in the shed at the end of a single length of cat5 cable (to extend wireless coverage to the garden).
