Four things i learnt 1 if the property has one or more extensions then there can be subsidiary electric circuits which make it impossible for an adapter in the main part of the home to communicate with one in the subsidiary part 2 if both adapters are in the subsidiary part then they will communicate 3 if you have bt wholehome wifi at the property then the first adapter can be connected to the ethernet port of one of the bt discs in the subsidiary part of the property rather than directly to the router and it will still work surprisingly well and 4 if you have the wifi version of the adapter you can link this to the bt wholehome wifi rather than the router wifi by using the wps button on the bt disc to which the adapter is connected

The answer is that the maximum of six bt discs were already in use the property was old with very thick walls and i was trying to connect to a garden room out of range of the nearest bt disc but connected on the subsidiary electric circuit

I was very cautions at first ordering something of this value from amazon being that a lot of amazon’s stock are copies or fakes

And more importantly unlike the netgear dont go into sleep mode from which they cant be awoken unless powered off and on
