Pros & Cons
Pros
The color is more white than is pictured, but it's gorgeous nonetheless. The outside finish is very smooth and shiny and the deep red color is just what i was looking for. This is in incredible value and an amazing purchase.
Qt cobalt blue dutch oven is my favorite kitchen item. This pot is to replace a 33 yr old le creuset. It cleans up easily by hand.
It's very heavy, and sturdy. The cover handle is metal so it gets hotter than the le crueset plastic job. It's not perfectly balanced on the stove, but it's a minor annoyance.
Looking forward to breaking this in. Seems to perform well. Beatsthe expense of the big names.
The smaller size is perfect for her. She loves how her bread bakes in it. Still, perfect for baking artisan breads.
Cons
It only says “china’ and “5. Unhappy with my purchase. do not purchase this.
After using it twice the enamel chipped off of both handles. Save up for the real thing and go with le creuset, or else non-enameled cast iron for ultimate durability.
Highlights
Quality
At less than the cost of that over-priced french brand (to go unamed; lol), the quality of this brand will allow it last a lifetime!
We are careful with the enamel and it has lasted well with regular use.
I am careful with the type of utensils used to stir in these pots.
The enamel coating does not adhere well to this cast iron product.
Price
The price was less than most and iit cooks just as well as other more costly pans.
I’ve been waiting to purchase a le creuset set for years, but the price is just to tough to swallow.
So, i was watching atk (america's test kitchen) and they reviewed dutch ovens and presented the lower cost tramontina as a reas... Read More
Packaging/appearance
All the advantages of cast iron with a top notch enameled coating.
That early burn problem may have weakened the coating.
There is a minor defect on the the outside of the pan where it looks like a small bit of metal under the enamel was sheared off... Read More
Competitiveness
I do prefer the flat top design of staub, but love the tramontina price!
I had used tramontina brand in other sizes and liked them.
The cover handle is metal so it gets hotter than the le crueset plastic job.
