Pros & Cons
Pros
Price is reasonable and it works as it should. No complaints from me. Will update review in the future with metrics or other issues.
I have a unraid server pc with a 10gb nic that does step down to 2. Gbps on my pc ethernet. To complete the job, link them to the router through this trendnet 2.
Gbe unmanaged switch. Replaced an older 1g switch to create a 2. G connection to a managed switch in my basement.
The speed test results that i've included with this review is with the trendnet daisy chained behind the qnap.
Cons
My 5-port fails every night light clockwork, bringing down my entire home internet. About 3-4 times a day i will get disconnected on the devices connected to this router. Rebooting, cooling, and switching ports doesn't seem to alleviate any of this.
Highlights
Quality
Have had this switch for almost a year, works exactly as expected and feels high quality/well made.
Works great, plug and play set up and easy to keep wires organized.
Hardwire the router only, satellites can just give internet thru wired, they can’t receive it thru wire.
With these consumer-grade switches, problems don't usually start until after you've had it for a few years, then ports start go... Read More
Price
5g switch is a great value for money.
5 gig internet and this work perfectly and is not super expensive.
For the cost, it was worth the money to increase my communication speeds, but would prefer managed devices for security
I wish the price were closer to $60 considering 2.
Shipping
I am getting faster local transfer speed.
Packaging/appearance
These are nice little boxes that keep what they promise.
Just in case, it comes with a special psu, but luckily, in the box, it comes with a wall adapter, just for south american markets.
I have it in media box to trasfer thru out apt.
Competitiveness
I tried an equivalent unknown name brand that cost less, but it did not work well at all.
I purposely went with this over slightly cheaper versions because trendnet is a brand i am familiar with and have a decent level of trust.
While it's on the higher end price-wise, i preferred to invest in a reputable brand for reliability and quality.
