Pros

Tew-828dru handles everything with no hiccups. Great range, easy to use gui. Clean and simple styling. Well worth the price.

If it's on, it seems to be a sign that the cpu is playing with the new firmware. Use the dd-wrt build from the trendnet site for this router. One quirk is that one does not seem to be able to reset the admin password.

Ghz band(s) did provide better performance than the 2. Got 3 bands. Wifi ac bands and 1 wifi n band. Our condo has solid concrete walls.

Cons

Average throughput right now is 1mb/s, although it has operated as fast as 10 mb/s at times. Intermittent dropped internet and wifi, for no apparent reason. Poor performance on 5. Ghz band but made a much worse showing on the bandwidth rich 5ghz band.... Read More

Official but unsupported dd-wrt firmware v4. The default firmware is kind of sketchy. Once you flash the dd-wrt software on it, trendnet walks away from any warranty.

Hold the reset down for 30 seconds, unplug it and plug it back in for about 30 seconds until the lights blink all while holding the reset. Trouble logging in. Tried troubleshooting but to no avail.

Bought on the seemly decent reviews at the time, been suffering with the poor performance ever since. We have a support ticket in so we shall see what happens, but right now, not very happy with this particular product. Honestly do not waste your mone... Read More

Not pleased with the options for contacting support and how it is handled. A term used loosely here. The frustration with tech support was enough to send me shopping for a different brand.

I am highly pleased with this product, great for gaming !

Had a problem with the first unit, but the replacement has been working perfect.

You should also note that as much as the router supports the dd-wrt firmware upload, it does void the warranty on the product.

You also have to know what you are doing before messing with the dd-wrt feature.

Now all shows stream fast and internet is faster.

For more stationary devices that are also close to this router (unobstructed in the same room), place them on the 5ghz band e.

Competitiveness

Very good router, all my family can use there devices at same time and no loss of conection in games.

Don't bother to try to do the dd-wrt update with an old trendnet firmware.

Also make sure to upgrade the firmware to the latest version on trendnet website before eventually loading the dd-wrt firmware.

It replaced a 2 year old trendnet wireless ac1750dual band.
