Pros & Cons
Pros
After plugging in these units, no need for a reset for weeks now. Both work well over reasonably short stretches of recent wiring. The units recover from power outages without user intervention.
Cons
The set up is easy enough, but the user guide is terrible. You then need to try to unplug the units one at a time for 30-60 seconds, sometimes multiple times to get it working again. There are multiple walls separating my office and the router, so the... Read More
Only reason i haven't returned it is because i am too busy to fuss with it and can use the time it takes reconnecting to go grab a drink. Buyer beware. Do not do it.
Mbps was pathetic and i decided to return the unit. The theoretical advertised speed is impossible to reach. That speed is the possible speed between devices, which isn't actually attainable.
Six months later, still not a signal random firing on the thermador. The documentation you can find online, seems to be for different models.
Highlights
Quality
Easy to install and is working great so far!
Best part is true the electrical system, doesn’t matter your room is far away.
One of the electrical devices that create "noise" it turns out is ac to dc converters like for your cell phone charger.
The units recover from power outages without user intervention.
Price
Well worth the cost of these units.
I got this for 45 bucks or maybe a little more and it works wonders.
At $35 for two, these are inexpensive.
To be honest, i was a little hesitant about purchasing this item as i thought about purchasing a higher priced item.
Shipping
The problem was that it took 17 days to receive a product that was promised for delivery in 4 days, amazon was not upfront abou... Read More
Packaging/appearance
I really considered running a ethernet through my attic for internet but when a friend showed this to me it checked all the boxes!
Competitiveness
This system is more reliable than wifi, which suffers from a great deal of contention is my neighborhood.
I have three brands now of powerline ethernet adapters and including these they all work together.
I like how small these units are, much smaller than the tp-link competition.
I just looked at tp-link’s tl-pa211kit, and cisco’s plsk400 which are 200mbps, and they have 10/100mbps ports as well.
