Pros & Cons

Pros

Great product. Extremely delighted. Some reviews knock the fact that the db9 has nuts, rather than screws. These ones are literally plug and play.

Connected my laptop to my telescope with ease. Some other similar adapters require a driver download which can be a real hassle.

Cons

The symbol scanner only seems to work when connected directly to a com port. This seems to be a problem with the prolific chipset. I recommend searching for an ftdi usb to serial rs232 adapter cable.

This is very cheaply made. This isn't something that i want to be handling on a daily basis. This cable is incredibly slow.

Thanks in part to regulation and infrastructure circuits as well as management ports used on virtually every equipment system in a co we constantly use these good old rs232c serial interfaces a standard that actually has been around since the early 1960s though not using todays connector types
