Pros & Cons
Pros
Tress is quite unlike sanderson’s other novels. There is some interesting world building that might foreshadow other works. Sanderson never disappoints.
Tress of the emerald sea is a great giggly fun that i didn't want to stop. Not my favorite world (scadrial), but my favorite entry. I am weird, i love standalone novels and the fact that this standalone fits into the cosmere universe just gave me chil... Read More
Tress is a girl who lives on an island with her 'gardener' charlie. Charlie confesses his love to her right before he is forced to leave. Charlie ends up being trapped by the sorceress and tress decides to embark on an adventure to save him.
Cons
It’s an ode to simple, childlike, self-indulgent fairytales. At times this feels like it was written as an adult fairytale, but then he injects 'humor' about poop.
Tress as a main character is unremarkable, in a self conscious way. The story hails her normal-ness that comes across as pure trope. A romance story written for tweens with nothing remotely believable or relatable in it.
