Pros

Toughswitch is a great product. I have this powering two uaps and providing tags for two unmanaged switches. Has cleaned up my rack nicely from having 4 ubiquiti access point injectors and associated cables.

Tough switches that work indoors and outdoors. Been happily running for nearly two years in a dusty basement without issues. Other than that they're great though!

Cons

Device freezes and locks up every time. Cannot login to device. Wish there was zero starts.

Quality

These things are solid, rugged and work in harsh conditions.

These are very tough little switches, i installed several of them in a harsh manufacturing facility, they get wet, hot, dusty a...  Read More

Reliability sucked and wi-fi kept going up and down.

I fully expected it to fail after about a year, especially after record-breaking heat in 2018 and cold (thus far) in 2019.

Price

This is an amazing product at an amazing price.

Easy interface with advanced capabilities (poe, vlan) at a very budget friendly price.

At 80 bucks i can manage switching it every three years :)

Not very expensive and works sending power to my aps.

Competitiveness

They won't power the voip poe phones we have for example.

I have this powering two uaps and providing tags for two unmanaged switches.

If you have a mixed poe environment you might be better off getting a regular 48v poe switch and then buying the ubiquiti 802.

Ubiquiti rebranded these switches as the edgeswitch 5xp and apparently they also changed the manufacturing processspecs because some people have said they are inferior

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

That would be a major disappointment because i still expect to replace this switch in a year or so due to extreme wear tear

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

Some people knock this switch because its only capable of 24v passive poesomething thats clearly stated in the edgeswitch formerly toughswitch datasheet

If you need 48v with a unifi product simply use the injector thats supplied with it instead of supplying power to the switchs port

I will point out that these are in a michigan climate
