Usually i'm a size l, but if you have large legs go a size up to xl, the waistband has good elasticity, won't slip and doesn't 'pinch'.
These have a very good fit, they don't ride up and have excellent sweat wicking.
I use these for kickboxing/ju-jitus/running , the side-pocket for a phone seems a bit superfluous.
