The bc125at is the best scanner for the price. It has an antenna that is designed for aviation, rail, marine and weather. Bought this for my father for railroad scanning. This device supports a wide range of frequencies.
Cons
All police channels are either encrypted, or not on the available frequency. Software problem where scanner locks and you can’t program it. Takes 14 hours to recharge the battery due to a logic circuit in the radio.

This is a great radio, easy to program easy to set up and great reception.
Very good device, railfaning as never been so fun.
Understand that this is an analogue scanner and it is not able to receive digital signals or do trunk tracking or decode encrypted signals.
It works great outdoor but inside, there is a lot of static.
