For starters the manual is not overly helpful but after scrolling through the menus it is pretty straight forward about set up

When the cam500 is attached to the bracket it is small and unobtrusive mine hangs just below the rearview mirror and does not interfere with my field of vision at all

With the power cord inserted in the dc outlet it does not draw current when the ignition is off however that is dependent on the set up in your vehicle not with the cam
