Pros
The speaker mesh on the top left of the unit is now in a red finish, which looks pretty cool. With a good setup it is quite and responsive when needed. The mono cup is good.
Uniden pushes out more features and fixes with each formware release. The unit is no longer in a hard black plastic, but now comes in a black rubberized finish. The app is easy-breezy with the updates.
Cake and eat it too. Honestly, we leave ours on just to help us be mindful of our speed.
Cons
The r7 is a very good radar detector, but the finish scratches very easily and the plastic feels cheap/shoddy to the touch. I get a lot more phantom alerts from the r7, so i don't know if it is the 2 antennas or just randoming going off because the ph... Read More
When you download uniden's software, the software is so tiny and hard to read that i had to bust out my reading glasses. The firmware is the most up to date, but the usb port won't turn the unit on so i can't update the firmware. Was unable to connect... Read More
Had high hopes for this one, but alas, back to my v1. Very unsatisfied with the r7 and even more with the customer service. This has to result in a lot of returns and wastes time for customer service reps.

Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but so far it has exceeded my expectations.

I would suggest letting the radar detector senitivity be set based on speed automatically and enable quiet drive with the limit set to 20 or 30mph depending on userprefrences
