Pros
The mx-600 features 10-softkeys that can be individually programmed and labeled. This is in addition to the hard * on the remote which are also individually programmable. The only thing i would change about this remote is the select button.
Cons
When you stick those units in place, they block the receiver from being able to receive an infrared signal. Nice idea, but no dice. Have to unplug the power and plug back in then it works for a little while.

I mapped the hard keys to the corresponding hard keys on the mx-600.
Competitiveness
Overall, though i would definitely recommend this for any audio/video system with multiple componants in a cabint with a tv outside.
I would rather spend that on a hd-dvd or bluray player.

One problem i did encounter is interference caused by my harmon kardon receiver

Its not able to figure out the cox cable dvr very well meaning the standard code settings dont enable the red record button for example but there are workarounds to that

Connecting to the devices is a chore
