After opening the package there was a very strong smokey rubber smell. I suspect the oil has bonded to anything plastic inside the dishwasher. Sadly, it smells like a refinery.

It did smell like plastic when we first got it but i followed other recommendations that i saw and soaked it in warm vinegar water
