This is simple as plugging in your charge cables in one of the media inputs and then unplugging it to get sound or not to get sound.
Despite this, the convenience of charging multiple items outweighs this limitation for everyday use.

It would be nice if one of the two "in-out" ports was a usb-a female type; i added an inexpensive adapter.

Do not expect extra features of thunderbolt to work as this is not a thunderbolt cable
