Pros

Though a bit pricey (cost more at the vendor’s site! Expensive, but 100% worth it. No doa, no quality issues, no problems. It helps make downloading of updates faster.

This adapter is exceptional. Works well. The result is excellent and astonishing.

Cons

The adapter works, but it does not perform well. It actually interferes with my bluetooth and wifi devices. It can be used in a multi-monitor setup, but they don't mention that you must only use their hardware to accomplish this.

There is a occasionally a distortion of the image on the monitor this is connected to and it freezes as well. The picture comes out oddly stretched and squished, as well as very blurry.

I alsothought the hdmi connection had to be flush with the startech connector usb to hdmi connector, it did not need to be to work.

Most usb display adaptors are low quality, go out/die quickly, have driver issues, or just don’t work for other various reasons.

Price

The price is on the high side for a measly adapter, but you get what you pay for.

Previous one was from china, cost $29, took average 30% cpu overhead and lasted 3 days.

Packaging/appearance

I did have to download the driver, but the setup was fast and my hdmi monitor connection works at 1080p through the usb3.

Then i replugged it into the startech usb device and it jumped on.

Doesn't seem to disrupt the hmdi port that's used for the other external monitor.

Competitiveness

Although this item was higher in price than competitors items that claim the same thing, this one had the highest ratings.

I used this on a win10 and win11 machine and it worked great on both.

Haven’t had to contact startech support for any reason.

I wanted to add a 3rd monitor.
