Pros & Cons
Pros
The silicone globe is lightweight, collapsible, sturdy and bright. It collapses down to a small puck for storage and pops open to make for a larger light shade to diffuse the light better. The weight is 7 ounces with batteries.
It's not super-bright, but that means it's not blinding if you look at it. There are 3 levels of brightness ranging from nice and chill to holy cow it hurts my eyes to look at. They are compact, cast enough light to read by in total darkness.
High-powered lantern that can make any camper squint at midnight. Pleasant little lamp generates a nice little circle of security and comfort.
My grandkids love that they glow in the dark.
I wish that we would have had six of these when hurricane irma knocked out our power for six days. I'm sure that this lantern will be very useful during trips and power outages, too. This is undoubtedly one of the best emergency lights there is.
Cons
Backwards switch dimming is the deal-breaker. Not worth the money.

It is lightweight and seems well built.
Great range of light levels and a very impressive run time.
Batteries add an unreliable factor, and also substantial weight (relatively).

Price
I purchased this item at rei for $15.
It would seem to be priced more realisticly at around $10.
Packaging/appearance
This little lantern packs a big punch!
The collapsible silicone is a useful concept for packing this in a backpack or even storing in a glove box.
The listing pix show it well enough, so i won't duplicate, but you can see it packs down quite well.
Competitiveness
99 and it's worth twice that when compared to what other lights sell for in the backpacking/camping game.
The clip for hanging is better than on some competitors versions.
I know thats silly but when you're comparing it to other products, like a snow peak lantern or traditional gas powered lantern ... Read More
