The cleat for mounting is about a foot long so while i couldnt get it mounted in 2 studs i mounted one side in a stud and used a toggle bolt for the other side

Smelli didnt notice any weird smells on mine tho it did sit in my hallway for about a week before i got around to assembling it

It has been several days since i installed it and i have left the doors open with a bathroom fan on and i can still smell the paint if i go close to it
