You click one end into a preexisting seatbelt and the other end goes on your dogs collar

In a pinch they can be attached right to a dog leash but i am more comfortable attaching them to a harness so that in the case of a collision the force isnt all directed on the dogs neck

We like our mediumsize dog to stand with his front two legs on the rear end of the center armrest with his head between our shoulders and out of the reach of the airbags but to achieve this the strap had to be extended all the way

If you hook it to only one of the two the vest could tear itself apart in an impact rendering it ineffective to protect your dog
