But theres really no point in purchasing the more expensive name brand unless it is free from the minor design flaw i have noticed

I guess you could say this may be a design flaw in any one of the related components

What happens is the bge13 sticks out and the footing of the collar is right in line with it making it impossible for me to release the clamping mechanism on my ball head and still mount the collar while on the lens and camera

The solution is that i have to mount the collar on the ball head first then slip my lenscamera setup into the collar

Even in doing that the bge13 makes contact with my ball heads clamping mechanism
