If you are in doubt of your skills to do something like this its probably easier just to go to a shoe repair store and have them do it for you

I was able to apply it to the soles of 5 pairs of shoes and to the heels of one pair its not made for this but i wanted to stop the horse clomping of a not terribly expensive pair of shoes and it worked great for this purpose and i still have enough left over for one more set of soles
