I've worn every pair right out of the box without a problem or need for a 'break-in' period, until now.

Sand gets in the very difficult to come out.

My favorite of my over 40 pairs of vibrams.

I wear them while hiking in the mountians carrying my 50lb backpack.

So, to avoid stinky shoes just buy a pair or two of toe socks (i recommend injinji socks).

Also, people have said that their vibrams get stinky.
