I have been very disappointed in the declining quality of victor's traditional wood mousetraps and was reluctant to try these.
By the time they get to the bait their little faces are completely inside the hatch for the compartment.
Price
Pretty good bang for the buck (bought 12 traps with 4 kills and one miss the first night.
Like everything else they are getting quite expensive !
It's the price we pay for living close to nature.

And with as many as came in the pack i had no issue just trashing them
The bait is in a box with a hinged lid that triggers the mechanism when the rodent's nose lifts it.
Competitiveness
I have used this brand along side others and this brand seems to be more effective at catching/killing mice.
For some reason these actually work significantly better than several other brands and types of snap traps.
I never would have thought the brand or type would make that much difference.

Theres a relatively large mass to the kill bar

Newtons 3rd law might work against this trap propelling it away from the mouse catching it on its face rather than its neck

The kill bar will then break the mouses neck resulting in instant death

We plugged every entryexit hole possible for mice but there is one that we just cant plug the dog door tofrom the backyard

Since we have tiny dogs any type of bait or poison is obviously out of the question
