Pros & Cons
Pros
Classic, dependable, useful, and timeless. I'm impressed with the quality and functionality of it. Very durable & easy to use.
The hiker has the most useful tools for the size and weight. I've had several other styles but never really liked the scissors or cork screw. Narrow tip flat screwdriver works well on #2 philips.
First time purchasing a swiss knife. Every competent citizen should carry a sak or a jack knife of some kind.
Love this knife for whittling. It's a fantastic knife, but it belongs in a cubby hole or toolbox. Only downside is probably that stainless steel isn't the best for a keen knife edge.
Highlights
Quality
The built quality is immaculate as always.
Quality: sak have a standard that has been consistent throughout the years.
I really wanted one with the saw.
However, the gerber does have a blade lock and belt clip, which are nice quality of life items.
Competitiveness
Now the brief comparison; overall, the hiker is a more well thought-out kit compared to the gerber scout.
Best handy pocket knife for guys who don't want to lug a entire multi-tool around in their pocket.
