Pros & Cons
Pros
It's the knife i bring to the symphony or throw in my blazer pocket. Thin enough to not be bulky, yet still has plenty of functions. Sleek pocket carry for nights out.
Sak black alox cadet is the perfect edc knife. Great edc for the urban folks and more. Fit and finish is perfect.
The toolset is minimal, but very useful. Positive, aural and tactile snap--into--place blade and tools.
Can opener also doubles as a pry bar and large flat screwdriver. I would definitely like to see the can opener swapped out for scissors. The nail file works great and i've found that it's very effective on #1 phillips screws.
Good quality steel. The blade is cheap stamped stailness steel, but it sharpens easily. The steel used is a nice stainless, not any where near s35vn but does a nice job.
Cons
The design tolerances on this otherwise outstanding knife cause the nail file blade to scrape and scratch the top of the knife blade when it is opened in the customary fashion.
Highlights
Quality
The blades came razor sharp and the quality is what you would expect from victorinox.
Quality is excellent, of course, as is true for all saks.
I have carried a pocket knife for 60 years and this is the least with the most.
Other than that i'm very happy with this item.
Competitiveness
Put a little paracord lanyard on it, and she loves it.
Planning on buying more for backups and bugout bags.
I have some other models, but honestly, none are as carry-friendly as the cadet.
*file doubles as a #1 phillips/small stabby thing :)*can opener doubles as #2 phillips or small flat screwdriver.
