Pros & Cons
Pros
This is my second favorite current victorinox cellidor model, after the compact. I plan on getting the tortoise gear helix tinder and fire ant fire starter next. I prefer my pioneer and this was a gift for a friend.
The compact is a bit pricey, but it came with the scissor which is a must for me. Victorinox accomplishes this slimming by leaving off some tools that don't get used often in town.
The victorinox multitool is just a perfect edc especially living in the city. It gives you pretty much everything you need for an edc knife and at the same time consolidates or eliminates some of the tools. Compact is a very feature rich sak that suff... Read More
The sak compact has a great set of tools and fits them into a body that's a little thinner than some older models. The combi tool is my favourite, much better in my view than the two overpraised openers in regular saks. Sak quality is always great.
Cons
The corkscrew needs to be replaced with a phillips screwdriver. The biggest flaw is no phillip, that reason alone keeps this almost great tool in my drawer unused.
Highlights
Quality
The 2-layer design helps keep it thinner in the pocket, with all the tools i need most frequently on a daily basis.
The knife is sharp and everything looks extremely well made and works smoothly.
This leaves the compact with extremely limited usefulness for turning screws.
You can try to use the edge of the can opener but it is very cumbersome.
Price
Yes, it was expensive, but yes it is worth every cent.
This knife seemed to be over priced for what it contains.
Shipping
My compact just came in the mail and i can’t go a minute without it.
Price was ok and arrived very quickly.
I’m pretty sure i was shipped a slightly used knife which is disappointing.
Packaging/appearance
I also wanted a corkscrew because i love wine, it also came with a mini screw that attach to you corkscrew for your glasses.
Competitiveness
The pics of it here compare the thickness with the 4 layer mountaineer.
You can get victorinox knives that would obviously cost more to manufacture but they cost less than the compact.
This seems a bit overpriced, but only in comparison to other victorinox pocket knives.
