Pros & Cons
Pros
The explorer 91mm has a good magnification for daily use. The magnifying lens is two piece, but the lens is held very tightly. The magnifier is what make this sak a standout.
Bought as a bday gift for my son. I believe everyman should own one. Always one in my left pants pocket.
The explorer is superior to the tinker/super tinker for all intended purposes. It's a satisfyingly beefy multitool that stays just on the right side of bulky. Just the right amount of tools with 3 rows, not 4 so it still fits in your hand nicely.
Phillips screwdriver is a miniature slot screwdriver that comes in handy for sunglasses and regular glasses. Phillips tightens door knob screws. Comes with a magnifying glass.
Stainless steel can be easily sharpened. The mini scissors are great too!
Cons
The redesigned magnifing lens is garbage. The lens of the magnifying glass missing after light use. Very lightly used and lens is lost and gone.
Highlights
Quality
It’s easy to sharpen and very durable.
Its 4-layer design and tool implements make it ideal and will be part of my rotational carry and the weight is not a factor.
I buy a new one every 10 or 15 years when the blades get stiff and the magnifying glass gets scratched.
The swiss army knives are made in switzerland and the steel used in the blades is french stainless steel.
Price
Price: i purchased my explorer in 1993 at walmart for around $39, so the price has stayed very affordable.
Shipping
Seller got me my item incredibly quick.
The unit was delivered faster than promised and well packaged.
Was traveling recently and it was confiscated at airport security.
Packaging/appearance
As you can see in the first picture, the package labeling clearly reflects it as the explorer 91mm.
Mine came with a torn box (bad for gift giving) and a few scratches on the red scales (also bad for gift giving).
But it's a terrible gift because the seller just dropped it into a shipping envelope and the box is flimsy inside.
Competitiveness
Overall, victorinox makes the best swiss army knife on the market.
Both of those additions make the explorer superior to the tinker/super tinker for all intended purposes, including as a capable... Read More
This item is more expensive than some other competitors and knockoffs, but i know the quality and how much stress they can take.
No one does it better than victorinox.

Id prefer they made this one layer thinner and remove the short blade and exchange the 2 separate pry bottle can opener tools with just the single combo version found on the compact
