Pros & Cons
Pros
It's a good companion for a fixed bladed, or if you're going ultra-light it could even be used as a primary. The only drawback is the blade isn't sharpened for its entire length. I have the 178 with serrated blade which is great for edc but kinda * fo... Read More
Victorinox ranger 78 is very much a workhorse. Usually i prefer leatherman type multi tools, but this has performed well enough to earn a spot in the rotation. It has everything you need included with this knife. It's a ranger, not a multitool.
One-handed opening of a good-sized blade of this sharpness and quality makes for an impressive implement. With a little practice, it is easy to flick open one handed and the lock button is well placed so you won't close it by accident. The one hand op... Read More
Saw is nice size and cut cedar without an issue. I have large hands so it fits my hand perfectly, the saw blade is very functional and one of the reasons i bought it.
Knife feels solid and one hand deploys with ease. A bit heavy but better sturdy than flimsy. I'm leery of hard use/* with a folding knife, but this one seems to be built to the expected victorinox standard.
Cons
Not all the metal divider plates are nice polished stainless anymore. The blade is too stiff to open one handed. It's not much and for what it is, it's way to big and bulky.
Highlights
Quality
The blade itself is large, sturdy, and holds an edge particularly well for a sak.
Very nice tool, exceptionally well built and stylish too.
The saw is even bigger than the knife blade.
It does not lock; only the main blade does.
Price
Well in my opinion it was money well spent!

Packaging/appearance
The release is opened via depressing the actual sak symbol on the handle.
Competitiveness
They have another similar model without the saw, but it has the silly cork screw instead of the awl.
