Long handle gives you a lot of flexibility in grip. I honestly feel like heavier razors give you better control. The emperor is much heavier, looks better, feels more solid.

Gillette silver blue is an excellent shaver. Slim, athletic big brother of the meiji.

Good quality brushes are softer on the skin, and give you a more luxurious lather. Apply after shave (lotion not balm) no irritation and no rashes, plus cheap blades.

Cons

No comparison to a karve open comb or even a gillete red tip. The shave is nowhere near as close as with one of the mass media 5 blade designs. After multiple shaves, it always results in razor burn and a rash on my neck. Not a good first impression. ... Read More

One of the doors was not machined correctly. One side of the razor has a straight bar, while the other is scalloped. Day edge of butterfly clamp caused blade to ripple/buckel.

The craftsmanship is also rather sawty. Very cheaply engineered. Not even close to my cheap wilkinson $20 tto razor.

I was intrigued by this, especially that it was adjustable, and decided to try it out for only $32.
