The wiring was exposed. The neon strip broke when i attempted to use it for the first time, splitting at the base of the usb plug.

About the only bad thing i can say about this light is that fact that it states that you can cut it but when you look at it one you cant see through the casing to find the cut point they show in the listing and 2nd if you where to cut it that you would lose that light defusing and also open it up to having stuff get inside and end killing the strip

But other that it been doing great for a bedside light for my dad
