The harder nubs transfer the vibration. The vibration is great though, so if i don't comb ith through my hair, just move it from spot to spot, it's good. This scalp massager feels great.
Easy to use and very comfortable. Nothing awkward about it at all. Very economical product.

This thing hurts the scalp, not massaging at all. The solder joint should have been made stronger at the factory. Buying a soldering iron, solder, and flux to repair the unit would cost more than buying a new massager.
Do not buy. Their description is not true. Very upsetting. Just a bit disappointed. Totally defeats the purpose for me.

Works great on my psoriasis but if you arent holding it exactly right the angle is wrong and it slips or your finger hits the button and it turns off
