Cons

Gotta disassemble to clean it properly, and gotta buy their extra cost wrench. The vitamix has a burning smell when used. Cheap styrofoam packing. The blender sounds like the spline is ready to rip out when put into high speed.

The vitamix doesn't blend well. After a lot of blending, i was still left with frozen strawberry bits in my smoothie.

Although i did not buy this on amazon, it appears amazon offers a better price than i paid!

Yes the price tag is a bit steep, but i think of it like an investment.

Competitiveness

The 5200 is good for smaller batches, eg a one-cup serving, since the carafe is narrower than larger models, but still just as powerful.

My cuisinart food processor did a good job with peanut butter, but the vitamix is so much better.

The kids and i did a side by side comparison with the ninja we had been using and it was shocking to see the difference.
