It would work great with a rode, shure, blue, etc. The only odd part of the entire product is the included mic clamp.

I am glad i tried this out because this is one heck of an arm mount. This thing is awesome. I like it alot.

The stand has strong joint * which can be manually tightened. The height adjusts with a simple tweak of an included hex key and screw. The pneumatic pump makes up and down adjustments very easy and smooth.

The clamp is so big and sturdy that it's able to clamp onto the metal bar under my table and it's perfect. It's easy to attach to the edge of a desk and extremely sturdy.
