The base is thick and bigger then it looks but keep in mind that this stand doesnt require being mounted to the table so it has to have some weight otherwise it would fall over and damage your screens

I previously had a mount that moved back and forth but generally only kept the monitors side by side

The issue with having frontback movement was that i often struggled to get the monitors lined up perfectly
