Dehumidifier works like an air conditioner. It runs cool, quiet, and keeps the humidity right.
I highly recommend this unit it does the job well great product. Comes with a drain hose so you can run non-stop without needing to dump water. It's literally the only one i could find that meets my requirements.

Cons
It is small and quiet but doesn't do a dang thing as far as removing humidity. My humidity keeps creeping up on 67/68% and there's zero improvement.
I wish i had known what a pos this was before i lost the ability to return it. What is this useless piece of plastic they are masquerading as a dehumidifier? Disappears to do nothing.

Im not sure what the other reviewers are talking about but this not compressor based it is indeed peltier based it says so right in the manual included with the device
