I am very happy with this even tho its made in china, they seem to have done a good job with this.
I would describe is as tough and reliable and water proof- thus the stiff focus ring.
The mount point is poorly located and your fingers keep hitting it's hard edges.
Price
For the price, it’s a great value.
For the price i paid, it was a very good surprise.
It isn't the junk you see advertised for much lower prices.
If you have $100 to spend on a monocular, take a serious look at the vortex 10x32.

I am sending back and see if the warranty service is satisfactory.
2nd update: sent back to vortex and they corrected the problem and shipped back.

We like to hike and birdwatch, and we find this to be a good lighter alternative to packing two full binoculars.
Note: the lanyard is right out of a cracker jack box .
Comes with a nice case as well.
Competitiveness
Reasonably priced unit compared to other brands; and, it has a built in eye cup extender aiding when wearing glasses.
The mag difference between the 8x binocs and the 10x solo is quite noticeable.
I hardly ever order things to compare and send one back but the 8x will be getting returned this time round.

I had previously bought a 7x18 brunton echo and a 30x50 yukon scout but one was not enough and the other too much magnification

With the 30x magnification scope it took too long to find what i wanted to look at in my view finder
