Pros & Cons
Pros
While i don't think this book rises to the level of his best, it's * fun and very interesting. Definitely recommend. Love this book. Immediately going to reread.
The characters are likeable, and the main ones have great arcs. World and worldbuilding are top notch. As per usual, the build up is so intriguing i don't mind the wait.
Warbreaker by brandon sanderson is a unique standalone fantasy that has all the elements you'd expect from his work. As per usual, sanderson does a ton of development and then everything “happens” at the end. I feel like this stand alone is his greate... Read More
Warbreaker is a fun little standalone. It's very different from typical fantasy magic systems. The breath-based magic and biochromatic system add layers of creativity. The magic system is excellent as well!
Lightsong, a self-deprecating god, starts questioning his purpose in a city where the gods seem less divine and more human. Siri grows from an impulsive young woman into someone who can navigate political treachery and hold her own.
Cons
It's messy, overwrought and reads overall more like an inflated short story than a real novel. I am disappointed about the fact this book only lasted me 4 days considering i only read a few hours a day.
After enduring several hours of pointless drivel, the ending is rushed. The characters are one-dimensional and their internal conflicts are repetitive.
Author spends 3/4 of the book having her be an insufferable prude. The narrator is ok. But she's not written in an inspired way. Siri does not and she acts on the bed and does all those things for herself.
Highlights
Quality
Give me a talking sword & well developed characters & i’m sold!
Pros:- innovative magic system: the breath-based magic and biochromatic system add layers of creativity.
The way everything comes together and every thought you had was shattered.
Pages 357-388 are chopped off about 20% from the bottom, leaving part of the text missing.
Competitiveness
But, well, warbreaker is different from his other standalone cosmere book: elantris.

I guess the only minor quibble is how the crazy ending just seems to get tied up so neatly
