This book is full of nonstop adventure with a fun and unique storyline. The characters have fun teasing each other, and the plot keeps things moving along. It also expands on a character from a novella, giving the protagonist room to breathe.
The blend of early industrial tech with swords and sorcery provides a rich setting for her characters to grow and develop. Like all her series, it grabs you and will not let go. The protagonist is likable and so are his teammates.
Cons
This book feels like it was written skillfully but in haste, with insufficient thought about the overall plot. Perhaps there's some outside force causing all of these seemingly unrelated happenings, but if so it's insufficiently foreshadowed.

It's like the sort of thing the ya genre should be, but isnt--an actual coming of age story with the hero weighted by responsibility.
A bit casual with the body count and the word jog.
