This unit works really well, it was easy to install and use.
I think these are great for both the home hobbyist and industrial use as well - very good quality internally too.
It comes out of the box set to dhcp server mode and seemed to work right away when i connected it to a usb-ftdi comm port.
Also included for their devices is a wiki page and sample applications and utilities to get you up and going.

If i find a less expensive solution for the virtual port drivers that is more 'permanent' than vircom, i'll update the review.
Note that the virtual serial port control appears to have been developed by fabulatech.

The plc programming software visilogic needs to see a local com port on the pc if you are using a serial connection

If you are going to use it as a simple port server theres no real device configuration needed unless you want to change the ip address or the tcpip port you connect to to access the serial port which is 4196 you can do this from a web browser connected to the device
