Cons
Their qc is garbage. Sending back for refund immediately and will not buy again.
The drive periodically disappears, refusing to mount on my computer. Lets assume 90% of the on time will be idle and it used 0 energy at 19,000 hours thats 68 kwh saved, or about $17 at 25 cents a kwh over the 3.
After disconnecting the circuit and connecting it again, there is also a second startup sound, and then there is not working any more. The protective wrapping had been removed and reapplied. Reinstalling and troubleshooting to no avail.

Quality
Great product, easy to setup and use
Plug and play simplicity, great storage for photos, vids and less often used files.
This one takes a good 20 seconds to start working.
The hard drive eventually corrects itself, but whenever i get the "driver error" reading i freak out.
Price
I bought mine used from amazon and can’t complain for $100.
Great deal for like new warehouse priced item.
75 per terabytes, which is a good deal.
8tb is a ton of space for the price they are charging!
Shipping
It showed up quickly and in perfect condition.
Packaging/appearance
Brand new 16tb hd arrived in a sealed box which made me happy.
While the internal packing seemed ok, the external courier package was torn open.
The corner of the box was slightly crushed ( red flag ).
Competitiveness
I have a 3tb "my book" and a 3tb wb "passport" and this one is faster than both of them.

I get about 120mbs from the passport and in the 135145mbs with the 8tb

After my data backup i found out that it uses more than 100gb in wasted disk space due to the exfat format see the attached picture for an example of ntfs and exfat file size vs size on disk

The disk does however make quite a bit of noises as it works

However it is quite noisy so i had to put it on a sponge cushion to eliminate the noise as it operates

Keep in mind that it requires external power and does not operate with usb alone
