Pros

Western digital download rate is 4x faster than seagate. Upgraded to 2t with this. Just as quiet, if not quieter than the 1t. Sata 6 gb/s interface ensures rapid data transfer.

Received drive and installed. Drive was recognized by the system. Reboot the system and this unit should be recognized and is ready for years of steady service.

Cons

The 3 tb version holds about 45 days. First one was purchased november 2020 failed in january 2021. That was luckily replaced under warranty. Will rate the replacement after installing it this weekend.

This 'purple hd is more expensive and meant specifically for dvr / nvr's that run nearly continuously. It is designed to run continuously, but is cheap due to less data accuracy as it is not needed for cctv dvr apparently. It can't be used for tb came... Read More

To save yourself frustration and money, don’t buy this hard drive. No spin up. Not sure why.

Just a foil pack in a bubble wrap envelope. It was shipped only in thin, sealed plastic with a label on it, no padding at all.

This was the right size hdd at the right price to add to my nvr for my home surveillance system.

This drive was on sale and is more than twice the capacity of the other brand of drive it replaced.

Obviously works for other brands as well but an exact match for lorex.

I had to go to lowe's and buy a small bag of #6 screws.
