Drive Reliability

Customers have mixed opinions on the reliability of the WD2002FYPS hard drive with some reporting no issues after years of use while others have experienced failures. The drives are known for their quiet and cool operation, but some users suggest using a dock with a fan to ensure longevity due to constant 24/7 usage. The variable speed capability works great for arrays, but firmware issues have been reported and some users have had to resolve them independently.

Performance In Raid Systems

Customers have had mixed experiences using the WD2002FYPS drives in RAID systems, with some reporting excellent performance and others experiencing issues such as lockups and data loss. Some users found success by switching to HBA's and software RAID or updating firmware, while others encountered compatibility problems and had to return the drives.
