Great product. Build solid - not flimsy. Stable sitting upright. Everything is as advertised.

This is the second wd drive i have had fail on me within a few months. Comes formatted as fat32 not ntfs. Serial number on drive is different from the serial number on the box. Why oh why did they change the usb jack on the device to the smaller versi... Read More

After about 30 seconds of being idle, this drive starts making a humming/buzzing noise. The drive itself is fine, the enclosure it's not worth the hassle.

Once the tiny contacts become bent or worse, that's it. Deceptive and misleading. Shame on amazon for not revealing this to potential buyers.

Still working without a problem, not a bad product

Uptime has been perfect, and in all these years we have not had one issue with the drive through power outages, upgrades, etc.

Nothing i have ever bought with the western digital name on it has ever disappointed me.

Since i don't use it much, i usually just unplug the usb cable so that the hard drive doesn't turn on with the computer.

Price

Great product with a very good price.

This backup drive was a super bargain for the price i paid on amazon.

Shipping

I knew from reviews that i read before buying my first one that it is not terribly fast, but it is a lot of storage at a very low price.

It's quiet and seems fast when items are backed up to it.

Competitiveness

This is my second of this model wd 1tb external hd.

It outlasted our iomega 1tb drive, which i thought was a better drive; certainly more expensive.

It was clearly that i exaggerated buying 1tb.

And i have just used less than 25%.
