The piece that hangs down is just rubber coated cord. Installation is kind of a pain even for my husband who is a licensed electrician.

    I was kind of disappointed that the two out of the three tiny screws that allow the cord to be release at the top fixture end so that the cordscables can be shortened broke in half when gently trying to unscrew
