I tried to do it as safely as possible using wago lever nuts to pigtail the neutral and switched hot wires and then electrical taping the lever nuts for added security

With almost all of them the foil backing on the fiberglass insulation tore or peeled away

The notch in the fiberglass for the mounting screw tended to wander so it was difficult to get the screw through the base
