Pros & Cons
Pros
If you are looking to upgrade from a cheaper food sealer this is a great upgrade. Restaurant quality in many areas. Onion, tomato, and sauce at the bottom of bag, lamb/beef strips at the top. I am a retired chef.
Operation of the sealer is pretty straightforward and easy. This is a big machine, but it does a heck of job.
Vacuum sealer machine for food preservation is an indispensable tool for anyone serious about sous vide cooking or food storage. The 460-watt motor is incredibly powerful and has been a reliable workhorse for all my food preservation needs. Fan-cooled... Read More
The vacuum pump is stronger, quieter, and shakes less than the small plastic models. It is adjustable/tunable in ways those cheaper one touch plastic machines aren't. This vacuum sealer is noticeably better than other high-quality vacuum sealers.
The wide 5mm heat bar creates strong, airtight seals every time. Food saver bags seal well, as do food saver bags. The adjustable digital sealing time is a breeze to operate.
Cons
The thing is pretty big. Used very sparingly. These are garbage for durability and safety. I want to smash them both into 1” pieces of useless “sealer” and send them back.
Highlights
Quality
I’m particularly impressed with the fan-cooled feature, which ensures the machine doesn’t overheat even with continuous use.
All in all, this is a very solid and durable professional grade machine.
The foodsaver units i've owned (four over the years) seem to fail at around three years with daily use.
** update after a couple of months of use; i still love the machine, but i wanted to note that the manual says to press the acc... Read More
Price
You get what you pay for sometimes, and this is that instance.
I know the price is high on this one, but i'm liking how it works.
Packaging/appearance
It wasn't placed in another box with protection.
Competitiveness
I have only had another foodsaver brand, and i’m very happy to have switched to this machine.
This vacuum sealer is noticeably better than other high-quality vacuum sealers.
Other differences include the weston being speedier and quieter.
I have no idea if there are comparably performing machines for a lower price.
